Günther Förg: Kunsthalle Bremen – Fotografie (Snoeck, 2006)

Günther Förg-001

Günther Förg (5 December 1952 – 5 December 2013) was a German painter, graphic designer, sculptor and photographer. This book, with its sequence of photographs arranged by the artist completely himself, mixes a selection of the works on show with such famous images as those of Villa Malaparte, Mies van der Rohe’s Villa Tugenhat or those of Haus Lange in Krefeld.

Since the early 70’s, Günther Förg has been producing an extensive body of work, including experiments on abstraction and monochrome painting, against the general trend of figurative painting predominant in Germany in the 80’s. Wall paintings, bronze sculptures, large format photographs, portraits or architectural views, as well as drawings and graphics witness the diversity of his approach.
