About the Book
Each of Appointed Habitus Set‘s photographic projects is based on extensive research into different genres of commercial photography: Habitus (2012) features images from online retailers of Christian liturgical clothing; Appointed (2016) consists solely of images from announcements for contemporary art projects on e-flux; and for Set (2020) Katja Eydel rephotographed the packaging of children’s clothing. Together, these three projects form a ruthless taxonomy of our commercialized digital imaginary. The photographic works have been re-imagined and re-formatted for this large-format publication. They are accompanied by a specially written text by Mike Sperlinger, which examines the relationship of digital photography to language, faith and commerce. Monroe Books
